ICJ Eminent Jurists Panel on Terrorism, Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights: Osgoode Consultations (April 2007)

On April 26, 2007, the Nathanson Centre on Transnational Human Rights, Crime and Security hosted (at the Osgoode Professional Development Centre) a full day of consultations for a two-person panel of the International Commission of Jurist’s Study by its Eminent Jurists Panel on Terrorism, Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights.  The panelists were Arthur Chaskolson and Robert Goldman.  The day’s proceedings were videotaped.  Four links are found below, each link corresponding to approximately one-quarter of the proceedings.

Two Nathanson PhD Fellows, Mike Larsen and Chikeziri Igwe, transcribed the entire day’s proceedings and provided the transcripts to the ICJ/Eminent Jurists Panel.  The ICJ / Panel produced a Summary of the Hearings in Canada (also in Ottawa, before the Toronto hearings).

The final report of the Eminent Persons Panel was released in February 2009.

Two years later, on April 7, 2009, the Nathanson Centre and the International Commission of Jurists (Canada) co-hosted a talk on the report by Justice John Dowd, Vice-President of the ICJ at Oslers law firm. Supreme Court of Canada Justice Ian Binnie introduced Dowd at the event.
